Free to B. True Patch Program

Imagine.  What would the world look like if all of us treated others the way we want to be treated?  That’s the foundational question of the book Frieda B. Meets the Man in the Moon, the story upon which the Free to B. True Program (FBT) is based.  In the story, Frieda B. takes an imaginative trip to the moon “for she just had to know what it’s like where the rockets and astronauts go.” But when her bed crash-lands and hurts The Man in the Moon, how does she respond?  How does he?

With a scriptural foundation in Luke 6:31 (The Golden Rule), the FBT Program for AHG Troops and families uses the interaction between Frieda B. and The Man in the Moon to present an engaging and relevant two-part biblical approach for all ages to exploring conflict resolution.

  • In part one, you’ll explore what it means to be True to Yourself, how to deal with inner conflict, and how to trust in God as your guiding North Star.
  • In part two, you’ll learn techniques for dealing with external conflict and being True to Others, such as “The 3 A’s” to adhere to when you’ve hurt someone, and “The Ephesians 4 Approach” to use when someone has hurt you.
  • You’ll learn how, ironically, conflict can make our lives, and our stories, sweeter… and how to embrace (with Zilla!) the adventure God has planned just for you.

Who can resist the FBT Tins Activity?? Not us. With full instructions outlined in the FBT to Yourself Guide, these easy and inexpensive tins are a wonderful keepsake. Girls spend time carefully choosing the words that best describe their unique combination of qualities, then place those words in their tin.  As the inside label says, “May the words in this tin help remind me of the person and friend I most want to be.” Love. (See them up close in our online store.)

Renata Bowers created fictional character Frieda B. to encourage children to dream big and believe they, too, are free to be their own one-of-a-kind, very important story. “We each have this incredibly valuable story, like a lightbulb, inside us,” Renata says. “And so many of us either don’t know it’s there, or believe we’re not good enough or have time enough to light it.  The truth is, your story is there, always. All you need to do is dream big and flip the switch. God will guide you through the rest.” Renata co-founded Frieda B., LLC with friend Paula LaJoie to create and provide a growing line of books, products and services designed to encourage and inspire the story within. Interested in bringing Renata to your school or event?
