Imagine reading a newspaper that reported only good news. Imagine how differently you’d feel about the world around you if you heard more good stories than bad. Stories of how people are putting others first through great acts of kindness. Well, the truth is, there are more good stories than bad. They just don’t get shared as often.
This is what the Frieda B. Kindness Ambassador (FBKA) Program is all about: Together, looking for – and recognizing – the kindness of others, all over our country. Then sharing those stories, putting them on a map, for all to see. It’s a way for each of us to see and be God’s light in our world – to provide hope and encouragement that God, indeed, is mightily at work among us, through works of kindness.
The Kindness Ambassador Program is based on the story Frieda B. and the Zillabeast.
Story Summary: Frieda B. loves books. So much so that she often becomes part of them, the words springing up under her feet and the pictures and characters becoming a world she’s able to walk right into. Frieda B. and the Zillabeast begins with just such an adventure. Frieda and Zilla enter a marvelous story world of classic fairytales. Yet with each turn of the page, Zilla grows bigger, bristlier, and growlier – until a hair-raising encounter with Little Red Riding Hood puts everyone on edge. What turned him into a Zillabeast? And what can bring him back to the sweet Zilla we all know and love? The answers to those questions reveal a lot about the importance of kindness, of putting others first… and the love we welcome into our lives when we do.
Imagine a map of the United States, filled with hearts, each representing someone who has been thanked by a Kindness Ambassador for putting others first. How wonderful would it be to see all that love and kindness across our country? Well, no need to imagine – together, we’re creating one!
See the FBKA Program Guide (below) for full details. And regularly visit FriedaB.com/AHG/Kind/Map to see the Frieda B. & AHG Kindness Map fill with hearts over time.

Frieda B. Author Renata Bowers created fictional character Frieda B. to encourage children to dream big and believe they, too, are free to be their own one-of-a-kind, very important story. “We each have this incredibly valuable story, like a lightbulb, inside us,” Renata says. “And so many of us either don’t know it’s there, or believe we’re not good enough or have time enough to light it. The truth is, your story is there, always. All you need to do is dream big and flip the switch. God will guide you through the rest.” Renata co-founded Frieda B., LLC with friend Paula LaJoie to create and provide a growing line of books, products and services designed to encourage and inspire the story within.
