Imagine: What would your school, your community look like if all children dreamed big and believed in their stories? This question is at the heart of the Frieda B. The Whole Child ELA/SEL curriculum. Life and learning matter most to a child when a child believes s/he matters. So that's where we begin; encouraging autonomy and community, belief and belonging.

FBTWC utilizes the Frieda B. series of children's books to creatively explore and encourage each child's unique story while simultaneously meeting English Language Arts (ELA) and Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) standards and initiatives.

This Professional Development session, led by Frieda B. author, Renata Bowers and based on the FBTWC Lesson Plan for the first book of the series, Frieda B. Herself, specifically will delve into ELA and SEL objectives related to personal story and worth (see objectives detailed in images at left). The session will cover engaging and creative methods for helping each child develop a core of belief and belonging:

* You have a one-of-a-kind story that no one can duplicate or take away from you;
* this story makes you unique and can make the world a better place;
* EVERY person in this school/community has a one-of-a-kind, important story;
* all the stories in our school/community can work together to create a GREAT story;
* you matter and belong here, we support you.

Participants will receive a Certificate of Completion at the end of this session and are welcomed to spend time afterwards enjoying The Story Barn retail store and seven acres of land.

Schools interested in making FBTWC available to all staff are welcomed to purchase the comprehensive FBTWC Toolkit. Author visits, family events, private PD, staff team-building also are available. To learn more, visit FriedaB.com/ES
