Imagine: What would the world look like if all folks grasped the significance of the story they carry inside? During Storybook Workshops, Frieda B. author Renata Bowers personally guides you and your guests through the process of doing just that - identifying and capturing elements of your one-of-a-kind-very-important story, via your own personal storybook.

This is not about writing a story of your life. It's about exploring and documenting (via writing, drawing, doodling, posting pictures and memorabilia, cutting-and-pasting, etc.) the things that make you uniquely you... what you're good at, what you care about, your memories, moments, hopes, fears, dreams.  In essence, it's a way of helping you better understand and navigate the story of YOU.

(Psst: Adults - this is a marvelous activity to do alongside the children and teens you love.)

You can come back to this workshop time and again, because each time we'll focus on a different Frieda B. book and topic, mining a different and significant aspect of story. The world very much needs every good story, and this process helps you clarify and dream about yours.

Workshop Topic: Seeing With Your Heart

Based on Frieda B. a Great Day at the Dog Park. In this workshop we'll explore the concept of seeing things differently... the essential role imagination and empathy play in living our stories. When we allow ourselves to see with our heart, not just our eyes, how does that lead the way in making the world a kinder, more understanding place?

Frieda B. a Great Day at the Dog Park Story Summary: Frieda B. and Zilla delve into imagination and adventure on opening day of the Fiddledeedee Dog Park. As they break for a snack, Zilla notices a boy in the distance who looks sad and lonely. Zilla kindly approaches. But the boy lashes out, yelling for Zilla to go away and leave him alone. Frieda implores her parents to take action and yell at the boy who is “bad, bad, bad, bad.” In response, her dad takes her hand and opens his heart… showing Frieda and the boy – and the reader – that seeing with the heart, with authentic connection, compassion and communication, is the pathway to unleashing the hero in us all.
* Important: In this workshop you'll be working on the creation of your very own storybook. Each participant should bring his/her own blank book (any book of blank pages will do) - or there's the option here to purchase one or more Frieda B. Storybooks, at a discounted event rate, and we'll have them waiting for you at your workshop.
