Free StoryWalk! 10am-3pm at The Story Barn
Add nature, a babbling brook and a tree swing to your child’s summer reading! This July 12-17, bring them to The Story Barn in Somers, CT for a free StoryWalk of the children’s book Good Dogs, Great Listeners: The Story of Charlotte, Lily and the Litter.
The book, written by Frieda B. author Renata Bowers along with Joel And JoAnn Bacon, tells the story of Charlotte, an adventurous girl with a big imagination who loves, loves, loves dogs… and hates to read. Story Walk participants will see a delightful (and pro-reading!) storyline unfold as they read the large easy-to-view pages, posted along a peaceful self-led nature trail at The Story Barn. The walk includes a pond, wooded trail, brook, and resident red metal chicken named Wanda.
The Story Barn is home to the national-award-winning Frieda B. series of picture books. Co-Owners Renata Bowers and Paula LaJoie and their families are happy to work with Joel and JoAnn Bacon, publishers of Good Dogs, Great Listeners to bring this StoryWalk to life. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase signed copies of Good Dogs, Great Listeners as well as any of Renata’s Frieda B. books, learn more about the Charlotte Helen Bacon Foundation, tour The Story Barn, and relax/play on the expansive front lawn, complete with a water fountain and tree swing.
The free StoryWalk will be open to the public Monday through Saturday, July 12-17, from 10am-3pm each day. The Story Barn is located at 952 Main Street in Somers, CT. Questions can be directed to 860.763.0330 or info@FriedaB.com.
